Organic Lifestyle

What is organic?

The term “organic” was first used by a British grower around 1950’s. Organic agriculture is a production system that prohibits the use of synthetic agrochemicals (pesticides and fertilizers), antibiotics, hormones and genetically modified seeds.

The objective of organic agriculture is to preserve the nutritional quality of food, without polluting or modifying the natural balance of the soil.

Organic practices promote traditional agricultural techniques and raw materials, and respect natural growth and regeneration cycles of the soil, plants and animals.

Every product obtained through organic system must be validated by an International Certification Agency that works independently from producers, traders and consumers.

Organic culture

At first, organic referred to a set of agricultural practices, but nowadays we can talk about an “organic culture”.

As part of the world trend towards creating a more conscious living where we care about the environmental and social impact of human beings, the organic concept has become a whole new lifestyle.

Organic culture encompasses the following principles:

  • To offer healthier, tastier food. Organic products are free of artificial preservatives, pesticide residuals and aren’t genetically modified.
  • To promote responsible consumption. The consumer must assume his responsibility when acquiring a product. Thanks to a greater access to information, consumers can select products that promote conservation and respect for natural resources, social responsibility policies, sustainability programs and greater nutritional qualities.
  • To support sustainability. Sustainability looks to find the perfect balance between profit and supporting social development of the region where food is produced. It looks to help growers achieve a greater quality of life.
  • To take care of the environment. It means to stop the unconscious and unlimited exploitation of the lands. To respect natural cycles of plants, animals and soil. To stop using toxic agrochemicals that not only harm nature, but also the growers that apply it.
